We had a delightful late lunch with Brett today. Besides being a really sweet guy, Brett has a design firm, Cheng+Synder, where he and his partner accomplish a wide variety of projects. A recent one is the Chelsea branch of Cafe Grumpy, Brett invited us to the opening but we didn't get a chance to sample the "quality fresh coffee". For lunch we took Brett to Chinese Buffet in Chinatown. For $4 you get white rice and a selection of 4 entrees. This could be the best deal in town, only don't eat the normal American-ized things like fried rice or General Tso's chicken. Better to go for the sauteed fava beans, omelets or caramelized pork.

Up in the Great White North aka Canada buffet means all you can eat, no limits other than no doggy bag.
I think buffet generally means the same down here in the Americas, exceptions being the Chinese in Chinatown I guess!
The definition of "buffet" in the Merriam-Webster dictionary is as follows: c : a meal set out on a buffet or table for ready access and informal service.
Oh damn...this is right across the street from me:) But I've never been........
