This is not a peach tart but it's certainly not a madeline either. When La Pain Quotidien first came to Paris we used to go often for their non-brunch brunch. Now they have a dozen Manhattan locations too. We had a peach tart with our NPR today, it was not overly sweet although the shell slightly soggy and thus slighty hard to eat - but not bad. The madeleine, photo featured here, is not a madeleine. I don't know what it is.

How strange! I've grown up eating Madeleines, and none in form of a muffin! Wikipedia says: "Madeleines are identified by the distinctive shell-like shape they acquire from being baked in special pans with shell-shaped depressions." Le Pain Quotidien should know, or are they French acting charlatans?
