Almost exactly one year later we have completed our trifecta of the three downtown lobster roll joints! First we tried Ed's, then Ardency joined us at Pearl and now (finally!) we four sit down for a comparative analysis meal at Mary's Fish Camp. At first glance the lobster roll looked heavy on the mayonnaise but in reality the taste was surprisingly light. The real kicker, however, is the buttered roll. Like the first time we tried Ed's (but not since then) the buttery roll makes the sandwich. And here at Mary's they got that down pat. Although truth be told, we might not be the best arbitrators of a good lobster roll since we pretty much could love anything on a soft buttered roll.

Yum. I live in New England where lobster rolls are de rigeur (SP) during the summer. Buttering the rolls is part of the taste sensation. The best ones are heavy on the lobster and light on the extra stuff. Looks like you had a great one.
