Another painstaking Cooks Illustrated recipe, this time yielding rather professional sugar cookies, even if there were just this side of too sweet. The most amazing thing is that following the first bite, the sugar cookies turn into Pepperidge Farm Chessmen cookies. Seriously! It's not immediately apparent but the secondary tastes and textures definitively evoked the store bought butter cookies.
