That Mario Batali sure knows how to make a good meal. We have tried Del Posto, been to Otto and even checked out Casa Mono, but had not lunched at Lupa, that bustling neighborhood trattoria. Which made it a great place to meet John for an extended Friday afternoon meal. It's always packed at dinner, but lunch is sooo pleasant - busy yet not crowded. We split a hanger steak (delicious!), the bavette cacio and pepe (bravo!) and the pappardelle ragu (yum!). Everything, as it always is, was perfectly cooked - the temperature, the texture and tastes all spot on. It's not adventurous eating, but it is oh so solid and good.

Nice to see you're still posting and photographing and EATING!
I haven't visited in quite a while. I think if I lived in or around NYC I would visit daily. But I don't and only visit once a year. You sure do make things sound great.
I'm coming back this year for the US Open. I'll look for recommendations out that way.
