The last time I tried the pepito torta (steak sandwich) from La Esquina was a woefully embarrassing scenario where I was having lunch with a friend from out of town and found myself trying to have a conversation while navigating a baguette sandwich with large pieces of meat sticking out of my mouth. The whole experience left me hesitant to try again. But today, since I was planning on a solo lunch, I figure I might as well go for it. No one around to see my awkward attempts at eating. Lo and behold they have changed the pepito torta to something much easier to eat although far, far messier. A good change though, the addition of pickled jalpenos catapults the torta into something I would eagerly have again.
