I know people love mussels but I personally have always preferred clams. And I especially love them with pasta "alle vongole". I'm finally starting to see it as a pasta staple wherever I go. I think it's always been around, but definitely considered a sub-popular dish and rarely prepared well. It's really rather popular in Japan though, I think I ate it a lot there as young lady. I don't know if I'd say it was really well prepared here, it was missing the bright kick, but I appreciated the lightness and the un-oiliness. It's a good change up to tomato sauce.
