The waiter at 456 Shanghai actually smiled politely at us while kindly taking our order. The atmosphere is like that though, quiet and refined. The table next to us had a plate of preserved vegetables, soy beans and tofu skin that looked so good, I couldn't focus on anything else. It was precisely the same taste as the rice cake dish at Shanghai Cafe that we love so much. The soup dumplings were fine, although smaller than typical. The spicy wonton dumplings were not at all spicy and perhaps the only disappointment at lunch today.

if you were a true connoisseur, you'd understand that smaller xiao long bao are actually an indication of better technique and true mastery.
