I happened to walk by Mille Feuille this morning so of course I picked up a croissant for breakfast. The brioche in the window caught my eye, they always catch my eye. The big crackling sugar on top, the promise of a light fluffy bite - why are they so much prettier than they taste? Maybe when they are fresh out of the oven they are stupendous, but we have yet to catch one on its way out of the oven.
