Yup, you're looking at the famous cronut from Dominique Ansel. I happened to pass by this morning both at 8:30am, line halfway down the block, and again at 9:00am where there was no line outside. Inside it was about 15-20 people deep. I waited for about 20 minutes as the line inched along and by the time I reached the cashier, the guy said they would be sold out in another 15 minutes or so. M. and I agree the frosting is extraneous, but the cream and fruit filling rather divine. We had it so fresh it was hard not to love the crunchy layers and the bits of sugar but I'm not sure it exceeds the DKA in deliciousness. And I'm definitely not sure what all the craze is about. 20 minutes was not excessive, but I'm not sure I'd wait an hour or more.
