In brief: Rarely has the lunch trifecta of soup dumplings, sauteed string beans and rice cakes with shredded pork and preserved cabbage ever disappointed us. Maybe once the string beans were a little soft.
We did think about going to one of our other favorite haunts from downtown, as we had meetings in Soho in the afternoon, but in the end I couldn't resist more soup dumplings from Shanghai Cafe. Especially since every single time one of my two sisters goes, they text me about it. I had a craving! The place was slammin' super busy and for a moment I was even afraid they had forgotten our order. But when it came, it was the most perfect it could ever be. M. and I stopped talking for the remainder of the meal. Occasionally one of us would look up and mention again how much happiness the meal was bringing us.
